Coverage indications
CMS has determined that there is insufficient evidence to add restless legs syndrome as a covered indication in the narrative of the Serum Iron Studies National Coverage Determination (NCD) at Section 190.18 of the NCD Manual. We are permitting the local Medicare contractors to determine when serum iron studies testing for restless legs syndrome is reasonable and necessary as is the case under our current policy.
