Coverage indications
CMS has determined that ICD-9-CM diagnosis code, 197.7, Secondary Malignant Neoplasm of Liver, flows from the existing narrative for conditions for which a Prothrombin Time (PT) test is reasonable and necessary. Consequently, ICD-9-CM diagnosis code 197.7 shall be added to the list of “ICD-9-CM Codes Covered by the Medicare Program” for the national coverage determination (NCD) for PT testing, as stated in Section 190.17 of the NCD Manual.
