Coverage indications
Hair analysis to detect mineral traces as an aid in diagnosing human disease is not a covered service under Medicare. The correlation of hair analysis to the chemical state of the whole body is not possible at this time, and therefore this diagnostic procedure cannot be considered to be reasonable and necessary under §1862(a)(1) of the Act.
