Coverage indications
Beginning July 1, 2001, Medicare covers FDG-PET for pre-surgical evaluation for the purpose of localization of a focus of refractory seizure activity. Limitations: Covered only for pre-surgical evaluation. Documentation that these conditions are met should be maintained by the referring physician in the beneficiary's medical record, as is normal business practice. (This NCD last reviewed June 2001.)
